Me & My Family
I am married to Craig and we have 3 daughters, Megan 8, Poppy 5 and Willow 3.
I have previously worked as a dental nurse and also worked in a care home for mentally & physically disabled young adults. Whilst on maternity leave with my youngest daughter I spent a lot of time with a friend who is also a Childminder and I thought to myself, I would like to do this, so here I am!
Craig is the head Electrician at Colchester Zoo and is also a Sea Scout leader for the 17th Colchester Sea Scout Group. Megan also attends the 17th Colchester in their Cubs Group and Poppy is due to start in the Beaver group very soon.
We have a few pets at home, Boots & Ozzy the Cats, Alby our Kitten, Timmy the Rabbit,
Ivory & Bongo the Snakes, Belle & Beauty the Giant Land Snails, Patch our boy Mouse and Eehee, Umat, Whitey & Milky our girly Mice.
I believe pets are a good learning point for children, learning to feed them and keep them clean and happy and I encourage appropriate behaviour around them.
The children are welcome to handle the snails and the Mice but the Snakes are locked in their tanks. They are not dangerous but are only handled by Craig. The Children will be able to interact with them if they wish when Craig is home.
The cats mainly live in the garden, through their own choice but both are friendly and dont mind being stroked and played with. Alby our kitten is still a bit mad and is often found hiding in the potatoes or darting around the house like a mad thing!.
